Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 28, 2026
1. Overview
WagAround is built to help you connect with real dogs and owners nearby, without oversharing more than you choose to. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
We collect the information you provide directly, and some information automatically:
- Account information — your name, contact details from your sign-in provider, and household members you invite
- Dog profiles — your dog’s name, photos, breed, size, and behavioral traits (energy level, play style, confidence, sociability)
- Health records — vaccine records, medications, allergies, and vet contact information you choose to add
- Location — your device’s approximate location, used to show you nearby dogs, groups, and events, and to help locate a lost dog if you report one
- Messages and content — the photos, messages, and playdate or event details you share with other members
- Trusted contact information — the name and contact details of a trusted contact you choose to save
- Purchase information — handled by Apple or Google; we never see or store your card number
- Device and usage information — a device identifier used to help detect fraud and ban evasion, push notification tokens, and general product usage collected through our analytics provider
3. How we use your information
We use your information to operate WagAround: to show you nearby, compatible dogs and groups, to enable messaging and playdate coordination between members, to help reunite a lost dog with its owner, to keep the platform safe (screening photos and messages, investigating reports, detecting fraud and repeat offenders), to process purchases, to send you notifications about activity on your account, and to maintain and improve the app.
4. What we don’t do
We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t show another member your exact address — location shared for discovery is simplified (for example, an approximate distance or neighborhood rather than a precise point). Health records you add to your dog’s profile are private by default and only shared through a share packet you create and control.
5. Who we share information with
We work with a small number of service providers to operate WagAround, and share only what each one needs to do its job:
- Clerk — account sign-in and authentication
- Apple and Google — payment processing for purchases
- Cloudflare — storage for photos and message attachments
- Render — application hosting and our database
- RevenueCat — subscription and entitlement management
- Expo — delivering push notifications to your device
- PostHog — product analytics, to understand how the app is used and improve it
- Automated content classification vendors — screening photos and messages for safety issues
6. Lost dog reports and sightings
If you report a dog lost, information about that dog — including a photo and its last known location — may be shown more broadly than normal discovery visibility, including to nearby members and anyone helping search, so it can be reunited with you. Sighting reports submitted by other members on an active case are visible to you as the reporting owner.
7. Health records
Vaccine records, medications, allergies, and vet contacts you add are private by default. They’re only shared with someone else when you create a share packet — a scoped, time-limited link you generate and can revoke — and are never shown to other members through normal discovery or messaging.
8. Content moderation
Photos and messages go through automated screening for a limited set of safety issues, and some content is held for a staff member to review before publishing or in response to a report. This automated screening doesn’t involve a person reading your messages unless they’re reported.
9. How long we keep your information
You can request deletion of your account at any time from Account settings. Deletion takes effect immediately — your account is closed and you’re signed out. Your personal profile details are then anonymized after a short retention period, after which playdates, messages, and safety reports involving you are preserved so they remain meaningful to the people on the other side of them, but no longer identify you. That anonymization step may be delayed if your account is part of an active safety investigation. You can also request a copy of your own data at any time.
10. Your choices and rights
You can access and export your data, correct or update your profile and your dog’s profile, control your visibility, manage notifications, revoke a share packet, and delete your account, all from within the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your information — for example, California residents have rights under the CCPA to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. WagAround does not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
11. Children’s privacy
WagAround is restricted to adults 18 and older and isn’t directed at children. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we’ll remove it.
12. Security
Photos, messages, and health records are stored privately, and access to member data is limited to what a given system or staff member needs to do their job. Staff access to sensitive information, including health records and safety reports, is logged.
13. International users
WagAround is operated from the United States. If you use WagAround from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the date at the top when we do, and let you know in the app about any material change.
